Five Cities Fire Authority, the City of Arroyo Grande and Troop 450 unveiled a 9/11 memorial created by Life Scout Zac Hall.
Hall said the inspiration for this memorial was the 9/11 memorial at the San Luis Obispo Fire Station, but what really solidified the idea was his visit to the Pentagon and seeing the 9/11 memorial there.
When he came back from the trip Hall said he reached out the Batallion Chief at the Five Cities Fire Authority and then the project came together.
"(The Batallion Cheif) said they had a piece of steel that they had been trying to do something with for a while and that this was a perfect opportunity to have something like that both as an Eagle Scout project and to do with the steel," Hall said.
He said the project cost about $5,000 and took 11 months to plan and raise the money for it, then it took three weeks to complete.
Hall said with the completion of this project he is one step closer to becoming and Eagle Scout.
The unveiling was Sunday at 4 p.m. at 140 Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande.
