The Cayucos Lions Club put on a great parade on the 4th of July. There were so many creative entries, a very moving start with the color guard, the Monster of Piedras Blancas, a great clipper ship with a reenactment - revolution, a hilarious float of the men's synchronized swimming Olympic team, 107 year old native Cayucos resident, Laura Righetti Grazoli who looked great, a moving tribute to Jodi Fisher, pirates, dogs, sharks, you name it, such fun! The day was filled with arts and crafts booth, great food and a sandcastle building competition.

Cayucos is located half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Cayucos is the Chumash Indian word for "kayak," or "canoe," which was used by the Chumash people to fish in the bay, particularly in the rich kelp beds just north of the current Cayucos pier.
